Woman Seriously Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash On I-280 In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after a wreck Friday morning that closed lanes on northbound Interstate Highway 280 near the U.S. Highway 101 split in San Francisco.

The California Highway Patrol said the woman, driving a BMW X5, was apparently indecisive about the transition to 101 and drove onto a median, hitting a collapsible barrier about 8 a.m.

The BMW then spun out, rolled backwards down a ramp and overturned after being broadsided by a pickup truck, the CHP said.

Two people in the pickup were hospitalized with minor injuries. Lanes were reopened shortly after 9 a.m., the CHP said.
