Torrential Rain Triggers Flood Advisory For North Bay Cities

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Marin and Sonoma Counties Saturday until 10:45 a.m. as a heavy band of rain moves through, swelling urban and small streams.

Cities affected included Corte Madera, Fairfax, Kentfield, Lakrspur, Lucas Valley-Marinwood, Mill Valley, Novato, San Anselmo, San Rafael, Sausalito, Strawberry, Tamalpais-Homestead Valley, Tamalpais-Homestead, Cotati, Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Roseland, Santa Rosa, Boyes Hot Springs, Sonoma, Kenwood, and Marin City.

When rainfall reached half an inch per hour, sensors triggered the automated system to alert meteorologists.

Street ponding and flooding will impact travel.

Property damage is expected to be minimal, and the flooding is expected to quickly subside.
