Tibetan Holy Leader The Dalai Lama To Visit San Francisco, Berkeley, Santa Clara
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, arrives in the Bay Area on Saturday for a series of public lectures about happiness, compassion, and business.
The Lama, who went by the name Tenzin Gyatso until he was identified as the reincarnated living god of the Tibetan faith, begins his visit in San Francisco on Saturday with a speech at Davies Symphony Hall. The next day, he speaks on achieving happiness at the Berkeley Community Theatre, before wrapping up the Northern California visit at Santa Clara University, where he will speak on compassion and business.
From there, he will head to Los Angeles, then Minneapolis.
The Dalai Lama often speaks about three major commitments that guide his life: "the promotion of basic human values or secular ethics in the interest of human happiness, the fostering of inter-religious harmony and the preservation of Tibet's Buddhist culture, a culture of peace and non-violence."
