3 Overnight Car Fires In Campbell, San Jose May Be Linked To Others Last Week
SAN JOSE (KCBS) — Three parked cars burst into flames Monday night and early Tuesday morning in Campbell and San Jose amid a police investigation of similar car fires in the same area last week.
All the cars had been towed from the scene early Tuesday morning leaving behind some charred debris and shattered glass.
The first incident happened in Campbell at 10:18 p.m when a van caught fire at 2105 S. Bascom Avenue.
The second car fire broke out just after 12 a.m. at the River Walk apartments at 1510 South Bascom Avenue in San Jose.
Fire crews responded quickly and extinguished that fire.
But about two hours later another car burst into flames near an eBay building, just south of the River Walk complex.
"I hope it stops. I mean if one of these buildings catches fire then obviously that's going to be a lot worse than a car that's unoccupied and not to mention a lot people have kids here—it's scary." Adam Parsons, a resident from the apartment complex, said.
Last week there were two similar car fires in the same area, near South Bascom Avenue. San Jose police said those fires are being investigated as arson.
