Thousands 'Walk To End Alzheimer's' In San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS) -- Thousands turned out Saturday morning to The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, in San Francisco. The event organizers hoped to raise $1 million for care and support of those impacted by the disease.
The 3-mile walk began and ended at Mission Creek Park. The crowd began walking at 10 a.m.
KPIX 5's Dennis O'Donnell emceed the event. Many others from the CBS family walked to show their support, including Ken Bastida, Roberta Gonzales, Paul Deanno and Elizabeth Cook.
Alzheimer's is the sixth leading cause of death in the country. There is no cure, no means of prevention and no way to slow the disease.
