Thompson, Green Named To NBA West All-Star Squad

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson and forward Draymond Green have been selected by the coaches to spots on the NBA Western Conference All-Star squad, the league announced Thursday night.

The two will join teammate Steph Curry – the league's reigning MVP -- on the honor squad for the annual game that will be played in Toronto the weekend of Feb 12th-14th.

It will mark the first time in 40 years that the Warriors have had three players named to the same All-Star team.

Curry was elected to the starting lineup by the fan vote – garnering the second most votes behind Los Angeles Lakers Kobe Bryant, who received 1,891,614 to Curry's 1,604,325.

Green, who has emerged as one of the NBA's leading all-round players, was edged out for a starting position in the fan vote by San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard.

The former Michigan State star is averaging 14.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks per game this season.

For Thompson it will be his second straight All-Star Game.  He was selected by the coaches last season and ended up starting alongside Curry.

Thompson is averaging 20.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest this season. In a victory Wednesday night over the Mavericks, he scored a season-high 45 points.

Curry, Leonard and Bryant will be joined on the starting West lineup by Oklahoma City teammates Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant.

The other West reserves are Sacramento big man DeMarcus Cousins, L.A. Clipper guard Chris Paul, Houston's James Harden and San Antonio's LaMarcus Aldridge.
