Teens Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Elderly San Jose Resident During Home Invasion

SAN JOSE (KCBS)— Two teenage suspects are accused of breaking into a home in East San Jose early Tuesday morning and sexually assaulting one of its elderly residents.

The home invasion happened around 4 a.m. at an elderly couple's house in Sunshadow Lane. One of the teens was arrested after crashing into a garage of a vacant house using the couples' stolen SUV. Police are searching for the other suspect.

San Jose Police said one of the residents was viciously attacked.

"We can confirm that there was a sexual assault involved in this incident we're not going to give any details right now about who the victim was or what exactly occurred," said Police Sgt. Heather Randol.

According to police, the victims are in their 80s and are physically doing okay.

After a brief high-speed chase, the suspects ended up crashing into the garage when the driver managed to escape on foot. The passenger was pinned in and later taken into custody.

One woman, whose own elderly parents live near the victims' house, said she's seen some suspicious activity recently in the area including cyclists who she claimed didn't seem to belong in the area.

Police said they don't know if the elderly couple was targeted or if this was a random attack.
