Teenager Injured When Three Fall Over Cliff at SF China Beach

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - San Francisco firefighters were called to China Beach on Thursday to rescue three teenagers, who fell over a cliff along the shore.

Fire officials said it happened sometime after 12:00 p.m., as the teens fell to an area of land that is not accessible by walking trails.

"Two of the patients have been brought out to a Coast Guard cutter and have been transported," said San Francisco Fire Department Battalion Chief Bryan Rubenstein.  "There is a third, more critical victim that has been taken off the beach by Coast Guard helicopter.  We use c-spine precautions and evaluate their mental status.  One of the patient's mental status is altered."

Rubenstein said the injuries for the third victim, a female, were serious, but are not considered life threatening.

All three teens were taken to Fort Baker for treatment.

Officials said signs were posted in the area, warning of dangerous cliffs.
