Teen Suspect Arrested In Newark Elementary School Burglary

NEWARK (CBS SF) -- Newark police have arrested a young man on suspicion of stealing from a local elementary school.

Police were dispatched to Lincoln Elementary School on Bettencourt Street around 9 a.m. Saturday on a call of a suspicious person.

Searching the campus, officers report finding the door to classroom 23 open, and the suspect inside rummaging through a teacher's desk.

The suspect, who has been identified as 18-year-old Maxx Moran of Newark, later admitted to breaking into the classroom, police report.

Inside Moran's vehicle, police report finding two stolen computers, two monitors, two keyboards, a laptop, and other stolen items valued at around $3,600.

Moran has been booked into jail on burglary charges.
