Teen Arrested In Deadly Shooting Of Vallejo High School Student

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Vallejo police arrested a 19-year-old man Friday accused of shooting to death a Vallejo student near a high school campus.

Vallejo resident Zachery Kroll was arrested on suspicion of murder shortly after a traffic stop around 12 a.m. He was subsequently booked into Solano County Jail.

Police said it appeared Kroll and the shooting victim knew each other.

On Thursday, a male student at Jesse M. Bethel High School in Vallejo was found shot dead near a skateboard park not far from the school.

Police received reports around 11:55 a.m. of a possible shooting near a skate park in the 1800 block of Ascot Parkway, Lt. Kenny Park said.

Emergency crews responded but the victim, who attended the high school, was pronounced dead at the scene, Park said. Vallejo police K-9 officers and the California Highway Patrol's air unit searched the area for a suspect but eventually cleared the area.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call detective Scott Yates or Detective Sean Kenny at (707) 648-4533 or 648-4524.
