Suspicious Package In Fremont BART Bus Zone Temporarily Shuts Down Service To Station

FREMONT (CBS SF) -- A suspicious package was spotted in the bus zone of the Fremont BART station Tuesday afternoon, prompting police to temporarily shut down service to the station, according to a BART spokeswoman.

The package was reported at about 1:30 p.m. and was removed by BART police by 1:54 p.m., BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.

Some Fremont-bound trains were turned around at Union City while police investigated the package, according to Trost.

Trains began running again at the Fremont BART station as of 2 p.m., but there were residual delays of about 20 minutes that should clear up soon, Trost said.
