Suspicious Odor At Palo Alto Hotel Sends Several People To The Hospital

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) – Palo Alto fire officials responded to a report of a suspicious odor at the Westin Hotel on El Camino Real Thursday evening.

Fire officials said on Twitter that eight people who were exposed to the odor have been taken to Stanford Medical Center, while another four people were taken to El Camino Hospital in Mountain View.

Henk Visser took this video of fire crews at the scene.

Hotel guests were asked to shelter in place while hazardous materials teams from Palo Alto and Mountain View investigate.

Investigators believe the odor originated in the underground garage but has since dissipated.
