Suspicious Item Cleared In Emeryville, Train Service Resumes

EMERYVILLE (CBS SF) -- Alameda County sheriff's officials said a bomb squad Tuesday evening has rendered safe a suspicion item in Emeryville.

As of 5:21 p.m., an item in the area of Shellmound Street between 64th and 65th streets was no longer a threat.

People in the area may have heard a bang and that was the bomb squad working, sheriff's officials said.

Emeryville police issued an advisory Tuesday afternoon about the item but did not provide any other details.

Capitol Corridor train service had been delayed by the investigation. By shortly after 5 p.m., Capitol Corridor reported all train traffic resuming normal service between Emeryville and Berkeley. Riders were told to expect major delays.
