Man Arrested For Alleged Attempted Kidnapping In Lafayette

LAFAYETTE (CBS SF) -- Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies said a 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a woman near the Lafayette BART station early Tuesday morning, but two additional suspects remain at large.

Lafayette Police responded to a report of a "battery incident" in the 3500 block of Mt. Diablo Blvd. around 4:25 a.m. Tuesday and determined that a woman walking toward the BART station allegedly had been grabbed by a masked suspect who tried to drag her toward a vehicle.

She was able to break free and shout for help, at which time the suspects fled in their vehicle. Later on Tuesday, deputies announced that a vehicle had been located and multiple people had been detained, although it is not clear whether they were connected to the case.

Around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, Pittsburg police stopped Jordan Andrew Wilson. Wilson was transported to the Lafayette Police Department for an interview with investigators before he was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for alleged offenses related to kidnapping and conspiracy.

Wilson, a 19-year-old Pittsburg resident, is being held on $200,000 bail. Anyone with information about the alleged attempted kidnapping, or the two suspects who have not yet been apprehended, is asked to contact Detective Sgt. T. Rossberg at (925) 299-3234
