Suspected Shoplifters Arrested After Stabbing At Morgan Hill Walmart

MORGAN HILL (CBS SF) -- An assistant manager at a Morgan Hill Walmart was stabbed outside the store on Tuesday night after confronting two suspected shoplifters, police said Wednesday.

The two suspects were arrested in Gilroy later in the night. They were identified as 31-year-old Noel Calderon of Gilroy and 22-year-old Kimberly Angeles of Morgan Hill.

They were both spotted acting suspiciously while selecting store merchandise in the Walmart at 170 Cochrane Plaza shortly before 9 p.m., according to Morgan Hill police.

As they prepared to leave without paying, a loss prevention officer and an assistant store manager came outside to confront them, police said.

Calderon allegedly pulled out a small knife and stabbed the assistant manager in the forearm. The pair then fled in a small silver SUV and were last seen headed south on U.S. Highway 101.

Gilroy police then contacted Morgan Hill police and said they had found the car there and detained both suspects. Morgan Hill police took the victims to Gilroy where they positively identified the two suspects, Morgan Hill police said.

Police also found them with the knife and the stolen property from Walmart.

They were booked into jail on suspicion of robbery, possession of stolen property, conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of illegal drugs.

Calderon also had a $50,000 warrant for robbery by San Jose police, Morgan Hill police said.

Anyone with information about the case has been asked to call Detective Fernando Del Moral at (669) 253-4964 or the tip line at (408) 947-STOP.
