SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A 42-year-old man was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing an 18-year-old man after a fight in San Francisco's Hunters Point neighborhood on Saturday afternoon, a police spokesman said.

Verdell Cornealis Martin, a San Francisco resident, was arrested after officers had responded at 4:03 p.m. to a report of a fight in the 200 block of Harbor Road, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

Officers arrived and found the victim, identified by the medical examiner's office as San Francisco resident Kijana Wood, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds that proved to be fatal.

Martin was booked into jail on suspicion of murder, Esparza said.

He said the motive for the fight and shooting remains under investigation.
