Suspected intruder at Martinez home dies after attacking resident, police say
Martinez police said a suspected intruder died Saturday after entering a home and attacking the resident.
Just before 5 a.m., police went to Hale Court in Martinez after reports of someone yelling "intruder."
They arrived and talked to a man who said that a man he didn't know had entered his home without permission and attacked him.
Police said that "during the incident, the reported intruder sustained significant injuries." He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Investigators are looking into the incident and said the resident is cooperating with police.
"This investigation is in the early stages and our understanding of what happened may change as individuals are interviewed and evidence is collected and analyzed," police said.
