Driver Running From U.S. Marshals Involved In 2 Separate Oakland Crashes, Injures 5 People

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – A suspect allegedly fleeing from U.S. marshals was involved in two separate collisions in Oakland Monday, injuring at least five people, according to Oakland police.

The incident occurred at 11:27 a.m. on 23rd Avenue in the city's Fruitvale district. Marshals attempted to detain the driver, who drove away and collided with one of the marshals' vehicles, according to police.

The driver continued south on 23rd Avenue into the intersection with Foothill Boulevard, where another collision occurred, injuring five people including a 4-year-old, according to police.

Drivers and passengers in both vehicles suffered injuries but are expected to survive, according to police.

Oakland police on Monday afternoon did not immediately release any other information about the case.
