Suspect In Fatal San Francisco Mission District Hit & Run Surrenders

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Police have arrested a man believed to have killed a 26-year-old driver in a hit-and-run in San Francisco's Mission District neighborhood last weekend.

Jamie Linares, 25, of San Francisco, turned himself in to police Wednesday after he was sought on a $1 million warrant for felony hit-and-run and felony manslaughter in connection with the deadly collision that occurred around 2:20 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Cesar Chavez and Folsom streets, police said.

Johny William Alonzo-Castillo, of Daly City, was injured in the crash and died later that day at the hospital, according to police.

Linares allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and broadsided Alonzo-Castillo's car.

A third car was also hit in the crash. That driver only suffered minor injuries and stayed at the scene to cooperate with investigators.

Linares allegedly fled the scene on foot along with several passengers in the car that ran the light.

After turning himself in, he was booked at San Francisco County Jail. Police said he is on felony probation for a robbery.
