Suspect In Fairfield Stabbing Murder Arrested In Vacaville

VACAVILLE (CBS SF) -- Police arrested a 30-year-old man Saturday, after investigators had been looking for him in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred last week in Fairfield.

After receiving a tip from an alert resident about the suspect's location, police in Vacaville arrested Vacaville resident Gregory Washington on suspicion of murder, police said.

On Sept. 19, around 4:45 p.m., Fairfield police responded to the 1700 block of West Texas Street, according to police.

There, they found the victim, 57-year-old Fairfield resident Mark Pyne, on the grass suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police initially released surveillance images and videos of a person of interest, asking for the public's help to identify the individual.

Washington has been booked into the Solano County Jail, according to police.
