Fairfield Police Arrest Suspect In Domestic Disturbance After Hours-Long Standoff

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- A man who had barricaded himself in a Fairfield house where he had reportedly been threatening his family members with a gun Tuesday afternoon was safely taken into custody Tuesday night, a police sergeant said.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Cormorant Court at 1:27 p.m. after receiving reports that a man in a house there was breaking things and threatening family members with a gun, police Sgt. Matt Bloesch said.

Police managed to get the rest of the family out of the house, but the suspect remained inside. A SWAT team has responded to try to negotiate with the person, Bloesch said.

The man was taken into custody peacefully around 8:30 p.m. and then taken to a hospital as a precaution, Bloesch said. He was expected to be booked into jail late Tuesday night.
