Suspect Identified In Killing Of Oakland Ice Cream Vendor

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Police Wednesday identified a 23-year-old man as the suspect in the fatal shooting of 45-year-old ice cream vendor Jasvir Singh in East Oakland on Saturday.

Police describe Joevan Lopez, the suspect, as a black man who is 5 feet 7 inches, weighs 158 pounds and has brown eyes and dark hair that he wears in dreadlocks.

Police said Singh was shot in the 9300 block of Peach Street at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have released a photo of Lopez and said he is wanted on a no-bail warrant for the murder of Singh.

Crime Stoppers of Oakland is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case.
