Super Bowl 50 Event Vehicles To Sport Special License Plates

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – As Super Bowl 50 nears, several hundred vehicles sporting special license plates for the event will hit Bay Area streets.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles teamed up with the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee for 450 plates, which feature the game logo and a black and gold color scheme.

Unlike regular license plates, Super Bowl plates are made with new materials provided by 3M that make them less vulnerable to being counterfeited, the DMV said.

According to the DMV, the plates are for a fleet of official Hyundai vehicles being used for the event.

The plates are being funded by the host committee and are only valid until February 12th, five days after the game.
