Student Shot Near Campus Of East Oakland Continuation School

EAST OAKLAND (CBS SF) - A young man was shot Thursday morning near the East Oakland continuation school he attends, a school district spokesman said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 8200 block of Fontaine Street at about 9:55 a.m., Officer Johnna Watson said.

When officers arrived, they could not locate any victims, she said.

Investigators later learned that a male victim had been shot near a bus stop in that block, Watson said.

The victim then ran to Bay Area Technology School at 8251 Fontaine St., and a person from the school drove him to a hospital, according to Watson.

Watson said the victim's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Oakland Unified School District spokesman Troy Flint said the victim is an 18-year-old victim is a student at Rudsdale Continuation School, located on the Bay Area Technology School campus.

Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
