Strong Rip Current Risk Prompts Bay Area Beach Warning
The potential danger areas stretch from Sonoma to Monterey Counties.
The beach hazard statement is in effect through Thursday evening to warn beachgoers of the currents that can pull unsuspecting people under the surf.
"I kind of plan to not go in the water, but just getting my feet wet is fine," a teenager at San Francisco's Ocean Beach told KCBS. That teen was in the same spot where just a day before, another teenage girl had to be rescued from the water after getting caught in a rip current.
"I didn't think the waves would be that big and scary, that it could get you that bad," one teen said.
"We're not gonna go in the sand near the water. We're just gonna do the walkway path," Patricia Arribe, who was visiting Ocean Beach with three children said.
