Strong Earthquake Strikes Papua New Guinea
PAPA NEW GUINEA (CBS SF ) — The U.S. Geological Survey says a 6.0-magnitude earthquake has struck in Papua New Guinea, but a tsunami is unlikely.
The USGS says the quake's epicenter was located 95 miles southeast of Kimbe, Papua New Guinea at a depth of 3.8 miles. The quake hit at 7:03 p.m. PT Wednesday.
There is no tsunami threat from this earthquake, according to NOAA's Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii.
