Strong 6.5 Magnitude Quake Strikes Off West Coast Of Sumatra

SUNGAIPEHUH (CBS SF) -- A strong 6.5 magnitude earthquake rattled the west coast of Indonesia's island of Sumatra Wednesday, according to the U.S Geological survey.

The quake hit about 56.5 miles west of the Sumatran city of Sungaipenuh and 87.6 miles south of Padang. According to the U.S. Geological Survey it happened just before midnight UTC.

So far there are no reports of damage.
