Storm Wind Topples Massive Trees, Narrowly Missing Oakland Hills Home

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Crews are working to clear trees and power lines that were knocked down in this weekend's Bay Area storm.

On Skyline Blvd. in the Oakland Hills, a Monterey pine clipped part of Dona McCabe's home, barricading her front door. It was just one example of the violent mix of rain and wind that swept across the Bay Area.

"When I heard the cracking, I knew it was a tree coming down," McCabe said. "I was just thankful it didn't come through the house and I was OK."

Hundreds are still without power in Vallejo where a huge tree blew over Sunday night at Baxter and Burnham streets and landed on a SUV. The tree also took down a power pole.

About 2,000 people are still without power across the Bay Area.
