Storage Area Fire In San Pablo Market Extinguished By Firefighters

SAN PABLO (CBS SF) -- A fire in a storage area of an unoccupied San Pablo market was put out by firefighters on Saturday night.

Fire crews responded to a report of an audible alarm at Mi Terra .2 Market at 13731 San Pablo Ave. around 10:15 p.m., Pinole Fire acting Battalion Chief Steve Akre said.

Crews entered the market to find the storage area on fire and the building's sprinkler system was activated, which helped contain the blaze, Akre said.

Firefighters extinguished what was left of the fire, he said.

Businesses near the market were not damaged by the blaze, according to Akre.

No one was inside the market during the fire and no injuries were reported, Akre said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Crews from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and Richmond and Pinole fire departments assisted in the fire. The San Pablo Police Department also responded for traffic and scene control.
