Stockton's 35-Foot Christmas Tree Destroyed By Fire

SACRAMENTO (CBS/AP) -- The 35-foot artificial Christmas tree on display in a California town has been destroyed by fire.

Stockton city manager's office spokeswoman Connie Cochran says the tree has been installed downtown each holiday season for about a decade.

The fire was reported just before 2 a.m. Monday. Cochran says fire officials think it may have been caused by an electric malfunction.

According to a city official, the tree was donated to the city and was worth an estimated $35,000.
