State Fire Battalion Chief Sought In Sacramento Woman's Stabbing Death

SACRAMENTO (CBS SF) -- The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has identified a 26-year-old woman whose death prompted a manhunt for a state fire Battalion chief.

The coroner said Friday that an autopsy had not yet been performed on Sarah Jane Douglas. Her body was found Thursday in the south Sacramento County home she shared with 55-year-old Orville Fleming.

Sacramento County Sheriff's Sgt. Lisa Bowman said investigators determined that Douglas was stabbed and that the two might have been fighting at the time.

Fleming's state-owned vehicle was found Thursday night in Elk Grove, a suburb just south of Sacramento. Bowman said Fleming also might have been injured.

Fleming is a 24-year veteran of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and an instructor at a fire academy in Ione, 40 miles southeast of Sacramento.
