St. Joseph Of Alameda Wins CIF Boys' D-5 State Title

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Jadé Smith scored 21 points and collected 11 rebounds to guide St. Joseph Notre Dame over St. Bernard 55-50 for the CIF Boys' Division V state championship.

Darne Duckett added 14 points and five rebounds and Adam Campos had 12 points and eight rebounds for the St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots (26-9), who won their sixth state title Thursday. The Pilots head coach Don Lippi collected his 800th career victory in the process.

Julian Ross had 15 points and eight rebounds for the St. Bernard Vikings (19-17), who are now 0-3 in state finals appearances.

The game was tied 44-44 with 5:53 left. The Pilots went on to score the next five, but St. Bernard cut the lead 52-50 with a steal and score by Fuller with 21 seconds left.

Pilots' freshmen Kobe Keiner made two free throws with 11 seconds left and Campos added another free throw with two seconds left.
