Spring Storm To Bring Rain To Bay Area, Snow To Sierra
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The first week of spring has brought sunny skies and warm temperatures, but rain is expected to return to the Bay Area by Tuesday.
Rain should be falling over much of the Bay Area by noon Tuesday, turning to showers and with period of unstable air lasting into Wednesday, according to KPIX 5 Meteorologist Lawrence Karnow.
The unstable air could bring thunderstorms to the Bay Area before the front passes. "We could see a few leftover showers on Thursday morning before drying out," he said.
High temperagtures Tuesday are expected to be in the upper 50s to mid-60s, with southwesterly winds of up to 15 mph.
The Bay Area storm means that more snow is coming to the Sierra. One to two feet of snow is expected on the higher peaks with the snow level dropping below 6,500 feet, according to Karnow.
The Bay Area will begin to dry out later Thursday and Friday, but there's a chance of more rain over the weekend as well.
