Southwest Flight From San Jose Makes Emergency Landing At LAX

LOS ANGELES (CBS SF) – A Southwest airlines flight from San Jose to San Diego was forced to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport Tuesday night.

Officials at LAX said the plane made the emergency landing around 10:00 p.m. According to an airport spokesperson, a heat sensor on the Boeing 737 detected a fire in the cargo hold, prompting the landing.

Upon landing at the airport, firefighters found no fire. Officials said it may have been a faulty warning light.

The plane was allowed to taxi to the gate and all 77 passengers on board were evacuated, but passengers were able to get back onto the plane to get their bags. There are no reports of any injuries.

Passengers are expected to arrive in San Diego early Wednesday morning.
