South Bay Transit Officials Stage Dry Run For New Levi's Stadium

As part of Tuesday's scrimmage, VTA practiced getting passengers from Caltrain in Mountain View to light rail trains. Passengers crossed active tracks, and some were forced to buy a new ticket.

"Here, the station is much smaller. We are not able to accommodate really big crowds just standing around waiting for a train," said Caltrain spokesperson Christine Dunn.

The agency admitted their numbers are a best guess, and dry runs are not a real thing.

"We have estimates, but you never know until it actually happens," said Colleen Valles, VTA spokesperson.

VTA suggests people heading to Levi's Stadium use a Clipper Card and to buy transportation tickets in advance.

The first true test will come August 2, with the stadium playing host to a San Jose Earthquakes soccer match. On August 17, the 49ers will host their first preseason game.
