49ers Officially Unveil Red And Black Alternate Uniform, Raiders Mock New Color Scheme

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) -- The San Francisco 49ers officially revealed an alternate jersey Thursday night, a uniform drastically different than their trademark red jerseys and gold pants.

In a tweet posted shortly after 6:00 p.m. Thursday, the team showed off their alternate jerseys, dubbed "Red & Gold & Black." The team called it their first alternate uniform since the team was founded in 1946.

The alternate uniforms are black jersey and black pants, with red numbers and red trim. The helmet is unchanged, as are the white socks with red trim.

Earlier, images purporting to show the new San Francisco 49ers alternate uniform were been published to social media.

The 49ers displayed the new-look uniforms on the team's official Snapchat account.

In a series of tweets, the Oakland Raiders made fun of the color choice.

The 49ers said they would wear the uniforms in as many as two games during the 2015 season, but it is unclear when they would make their playing debut.
