Snake Vs. Snake: Kingsnake Caught On Camera Gobbling Gopher Snake At Antioch Park

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) - Warning to those of you who fear snakes, you shouldn't have clicked on this article.

Like it or not, the serpent cycle of life was caught on tape last weekend at the Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve in Antioch where an adult California kingsnake got the best of an equally-hefty gopher snake.

If you're squeamish about snakes, here's your last chance to look away. If not, here's the video:

The Oakland Zoo profile of the kingsnake indicates that it's not uncommon for them to devour their slithering siblings.

Both gopher and kingsnakes are considered harmless to humans, in fact, the San Diego Zoo points out that kingsnakes often prey on rattlers and other venomous snakes. Rattlers have also been spotted in the area where this video was filmed.
