Small Plane Crashes Near Vacaville

VACAVILLE (CBS SF) -- A pilot escaped injury early Friday when his small plane crash landed near the Vacaville airport, authorities said.

Authorities said the plane crashed behind a home on Epic Street in Vacaville at around 8 a.m.

According to the FAA, the single-engine Cessna 177 lost power on its approach to Nut Tree Airport and crash in a grassy area short of the airport.

Authorities said the pilot was not injured. The crash remained under investigation.
