5-Acre Brush Fire Burns Above LA Suburb Of San Dimas

SAN DIMAS (CBS/AP) -- Firefighting helicopters have made progress against a small brush fire in the San Gabriel Mountains foothill community of San Dimas.

Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopters flying in pre-dawn darkness Wednesday have made numerous water drops on the steep slopes and flames are greatly diminished.

The fire was reported around 4 a.m. near San Dimas Canyon Golf Course.

Weather is favorable, with little wind and high humidity.
