Sleeping Woman Injured After Car Plows Into San Leandro Home

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) -- A car smashed into a garage-turned-bedroom Monday evening injuring the driver and a woman who was sleeping inside.

Officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Purdue and Farnsworth streets around 9:30 p.m.

San Leandro Police said a witness told them a blue SUV was speeding when it aggressively drove through the intersection.

It clipped a white car then continued straight into a house. The SUV entered what looks like a garage from the outside but was converted into a bedroom.

When crews arrived on scene, the victim had to be extracted from underneath the car. She was immediately taken to a local hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time, along with the driver.

One witness who saw the car crash into the house said she heard a man screaming, "Oh my God, my daughter is in there!"

The cause of the accident is under investigation. It's unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved at this time.
