SJ Police Shoot Suspect Fleeing Alleged Drug Deal Who Rammed Patrol Car, Tried To Run Over Officer

SAN JOSE (CBS/AP) -- A Northern California police deputy shot and wounded a man who rammed a patrol car and tried to run down a second lawman while fleeing a drug deal.

Santa Clara Sheriff's deputies were patrolling San Jose Wednesday morning when they saw a two cars involved in a suspected drug deal. A man in one car rammed the police car and then drove toward the deputies, who were on foot.

One deputy fired his pistol and hit the vehicle but it didn't stop.

Neither of the deputies was injured. Three people were detained in connection to the incident, including a man who showed up later Wednesday at a hospital with a gunshot wound. The incident was not linked to the fatal shooting of San Jose police Officer Michael Johnson Tuesday night.
