Sinking Boat Rescued Off Coyote Point

COYOTE POINT SHORELINE (CBS SF) -- A San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Marine Unit rescued a ship in distress in the waters just north of Coyote Point Harbor, Saturday.

The unit was on routine patrol when the harbormaster alerted them a ship was in distress nearby, according to San Mateo County Sherriff's Office Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt.

When the rescuers arrived, they found 9 passengers clinging onto both the sinking boat and another outrigger canoe in an effort to keep both vessels from capsizing, said Rosenblatt.

The passengers were transferred onto the Sheriff's Office vessels and taken ashore where they were treated for injuries ranging from abrasions to possible hypothermia.

No one required additional medical transport.
