Shooting Sets Off Crashes, Shuts Down I-80 In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- Interstate Highway 80 off-ramps and a heavily traveled road in Fairfield are open again following a police investigation into a shooting earlier Saturday.

As of 10:30 p.m., Waterman Boulevard and the Highway 80 off-ramps to Waterman Boulevard and Air Base Parkway were open.

At 3:20 p.m. multiple people called police to tell them about a collision near Waterman Boulevard and Hilborn Road, just west of Interstate Highway 80.

Police said it appears two cars were traveling on Waterman Boulevard when the occupants of one car began shooting at a silver Honda Accord, hitting the driver more than once.

The driver suffered life-threatening injuries and lost control of the car, causing a three-car collision, which injured more people.
