Oakland Man Arrested In Connection With Central Coast Shooting

SAN LUIS OBISPO (CBS SF) -- A 19-year-old Oakland man was in jail Sunday night in San Luis Obispo County, facing an attempted murder charge after six people were hospitalized - five with gunshot wounds -- following a skirmish on Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area about 10 miles south of San Luis Obispo, law enforcement officials said.

Francisco Orozco was arrested early Sunday morning after San Luis Obispo Sheriff's deputies interviewed people part of a "large gathering" at Oceano Dunes following the shootings, said Grace Norris, a spokeswoman for the San Luis Obispo sheriff.

Norris said it wasn't clear what prompted the shootings, and that sheriff's detectives were still working Sunday night to answer that and other questions.

As of Sunday night, Orozco faced one count of suspicion of attempted murder, and remained in jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. It was unclear when his arraignment will take place.
