Shooting Near San Jose State University Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Hurt

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Two male victims were shot, one fatally, near San Jose State University Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded at 2:11 p.m. to the area of South 11th and East San Antonio streets on a report of a shooting. They arrived to find the two victims, who were each shot at least once, San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said.

The two victims were found inside a car that had been hit by gunfire about a block from San Jose State.

The victims were taken to a hospital where one succumbed to his injuries a short time later, Garcia said.

"We have a lot of witnesses to interview, surveillance footage to review, and we're still trying to put everything together," Lieutenant Eduardo Pedreira said.

No arrests have been made in the case and no suspect information was immediately available. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Police Department's homicide unit at (408) 277-5283. People wishing to remain anonymous can also call (408) 947-7867.
