Ship Berthed At Port Of Oakland Catches Fire

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Oakland fire crews said a two-alarm fire aboard a ship berthed at the Port of Oakland is under control Sunday evening, according to the department's official Twitter account.

Firefighters reported the blaze shortly after 6 p.m. and said it was under control around 6:40 p.m., according to the Twitter account.

The tweets indicate the fire was on the "F" deck, mid-ship, and was showing heavy smoke conditions.

Firefighters reported seeing fire inside the ship's walls and inside the officer's cabin, according to the Twitter account.

A spokesperson for the department was not immediately available.
