UPDATE: Shelter-In-Place Near Los Gatos Elementary School Lifted

LOS GATOS (CBS SF) -- A shelter-in-place order for a Los Gatos neighborhood near an elementary school issued by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Thursday morning has been lifted by authorities.

People living in the area of Old Santa Cruz Highway at Lexington School Road near Lexington Elementary School were asked to shelter in place Thursday morning at around 8:45 a.m.

The sheriff's office said a person matching the description of an armed robbery suspect from Santa Cruz County was seen in the area Thursday morning.

Because the crime involved a gun, out of an abundance of caution the shelter-in-place was put in effect. The area encompasses a heavily wooded area along with the elementary school.

That order was lifted shortly after 1 p.m., according to a tweet by the sheriff's office after authorities received information that the suspect may have left the area.

Residents are asked to contact the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office with any information regarding the incident.
