SF Police Ready For '4/20' Celebration Of Marijuana In Golden Gate Park

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) -- San Francisco authorities are preparing for thousands of marijuana smokers to gather in Golden Gate Park for the annual 4/20 pot-smoking celebration.

Police Chief Greg Suhr says officers plan to crack down on illegal parking, camping, drug sales, underage drinking and open alcohol containers at Sunday's festivities at the park's Hippie Hill.

Authorities say last year's 4/20 smoke-out attracted tens of thousands of people who created traffic jams and left 10,000 pounds of trash that city workers had to clean up.

Officials say they want to make sure this year's unofficial pot holiday doesn't disrupt Easter Sunday activities in Golden Gate Park.

San Francisco is just one of many cities across the country where 4/20 marijuana celebrations are planned.
