SF Company Shows Off Advanced Motorcycle Helmet With Heads-up Display

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX) -- California has more motorcycle riders than any other state and, it seems, more technology companies than any other state. So it's not too surprising that a San Francisco company has now produced a high-tech motorcyle helmet.

"It's a heads-up display for a motorcycle helmet," explained Marcus Weller, founder and CEO of Skully Helmets.

Inside this helmet is a small screen connected to a rear-view camera. The rider can see what's happening without turning his head. The helmet also connects via Bluetooth to a smartphone, allowing the rider to receive and monitor incoming messages. And, as you might expect, it also offers GPS navigation.

"It also has audio so it tells you where to turn," Weller told us.

The Skully Helmet is an integrated system that will cost around $1,500 When it goes on sale sometime next year.
