SF Artist's 15-Foot-Wide Star Wars Painting Up For Sale At $200,000

San Francisco artist Robert Xavier Burden has combined high art with a love for Star Wars to create a massive ode to "a galaxy far, far away."

The 15 foot by 8 foot oil painting titled "The 20th Century Space Opera" combines Star Wars and other pop culture icons with intricate patterns the artist calls "French tapestry designs, Moroccan and Persian carpets, Gothic stained glass, and some invented design."

"The 20th Century Space Opera" contains over 160 figurines from the Star Wars canon plus depictions of Star Wars influences like Joseph Campbell, Yul Brynner, Flash Gordon and more. For the Star Wars fan, it is not only a feast for the eyes but an intricate game of Star Wars themed "Where's Waldo."

The painting took Robert Xavier Burden over 2000 hours of studio time over an 18 month span to complete. The size of the work and the long hours entailed in the painting's creation lead to the $200,000 price tag on "The 20th Century Space Opera."

You can see "The 20th Century Space Opera" in person at its public debut at Rancho Obi-Wan's display at Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim on April.

If your wallet or your wall space can't quite handle the painting you can also pick up art prints of the piece that are 24" by 36" on archival paper on Robert Xavier Burden website.

See "The 20th Century Space Opera" and Robert Xavier Burden other work (which includes works with Transformers, Batman, He-Man, Thundercats and more) digitally on his website robertburden.net. "Han on a Tauntaun" and "The Holy Batman" are two my personal favorites from the rest of Burden available prints.
